Second Half entry forms are now available! Please check your email if you haven't already seen them, or you can get a PDF version here and a Word version here. Deadline for entries is 16 December, same day as the Christmas BBQ. And here's a brief summary of the second half events:
- Club Championship sees all entrants split into grades. There is some flexibility around handicap ranges depending on entries, but in recent seasons GC has generally been split into grades of 5 and under, 6-9, and 10+, while AC has been 4 and under, 5-16, and 18+. AC especially could end up further condensed if there are insufficient entries, so I would strongly encourage people to enter! The Club Championship offers a great opportunity to play matches against people of a similar handicap!
- Hugh Gillies & Corkill Cup are our pick-your-own-partner doubles competitions in AC and GC respectively. A change for this season is that they're now both level competitions, meaning no handicap. My reason for this is that I think it fits better with the second half club champs also being level competitions, I think the club has always missed a bit having competition matches under the same conditions we so often play on club days, and experience with level doubles will be important for those going into Wednesday GC Interclub.
On the form, I've allowed for people to choose a partner now, which I'll record in my spreadsheet if both partners name each other on their forms. If you don't have a partner in mind, don't worry, I'll have a sign-up sheet going up later so a decision doesn't have to be made right now. - Jubilee Jug will replace the Jubilee Cup as the tournament to be played around the anniversary of when we moved to Walter Nash Park. In previous seasons, the Jubilee Jug was knockout while the Jubilee Cup was round robin. While the Jubilee Jug will still be played as an advantage handicap GC singles tournament, I've decided to make it a round robin competition like the Jubilee Cup used to be.
For those wondering why I've dumped the Jubilee Cup or even what it was, that was our mixed AC-GC changing partners tournament, which I've felt has just had too many complications to try and put together, and whose AC side was lagging. Instead, in a sense I just have the GC Jubilee Jug as a counterpart to the AC Routley in the first half of the season.
